Plans
I had planned on getting a second job. I applied and had an interview at a store who's logo is similar to a dart board. Got it? Well, I was told I'd get a call for a second interview but I haven't. I can't explain how that makes me feel. On one hand I am relieved because I never really wanted the job to begin with but on the other hand my ego is a bit bruised. I mean, come on....I've been turned down for a retail job? I must have come off badly in my interview.
We met with an bankruptcy attorney yesterday. It was advised that I should not have a second job at the moment as it would affect filing for bankruptcy so I suppose it was for the best.
We finally did get a call back about the fire inspection however they require our gas lines to be checked by a licensed plumber. The cheapest estimate we got for that was around $250. Have I mentioned how we don't have any money? Yeah, that kind of sucks. So, J had this great plan of taking back the tile we bought and getting our money back (around $200) to help pay for the plumber but for the life of me I can't find the receipt! I absolutely must find that receipt or it will be a very long time until we can afford the plumber which means our fire inspection won't be done which means we cannot have any children.
I miss being a mom. My heart aches to be a mom again.
J has applied for and gotten a second job. She is supposed to go in for training this week.

Depressed
It's bad here folks. It's so bad that I'm attempting to get a second job. This makes me very angry and resentful. I shouldn't have to get a second job but I guess I shouldn't have allowed things to get to this point.
However, if I had a second job, I'd have to quit if (when) we get a placement. I certainly wouldn't have the time to take care of a child and work two jobs. So, I'm looking at it as a temporary way to help pay for some of these unexpected expenses.

Still Having Problems
We're still waiting for a foster placement. We have taken the mandatory classes and thought we were in the clear for placements but after speaking with the call intake person, she seems to be waiting for an 'all clear' from someone other than us. It's very frustrating but I'm going to try to get someone to tell her that we're good to go.
I got a good deal on an infant carseat/carrier last week and was quite proud of myself for saving $30 on it.
I haven't worked on any crafts that I can post a picture of lately. Mostly I've been working on my scrapbook.
Time for breakfast......

What's Going On?
There's got to be a better way! I'd hate to have to shut this blog down and start over somewhere else but that's what I'm leaning towards.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Big Footed Bunny

You can find the pattern on Wee Wonderfuls shop!
For some reason I've started working on baby booties. I guess I'm anticipating starting foster care again. We won't be cleared to receive placements until we take two classes (Behavior Management and Discipline) but we've specifically asked for babies. I figure it wouldn't hurt to have some booties of various sizes on hand. Right? ;)

A Quick One
The info tag fell off but my mom says it looks like a Trumpet Vine.
Blooms on our Meyer Lemon tree. And also, this little guy was making quite the racket in the front yard a couple of weeks ago. He was searching through the leaves and pine needles for goodies. I really had to zoom in for a photo - digital zoom - not the best but here he is.

Happy Spring Everyone!

Clothes
It was my first attempt at altering an inseam - I'm short waisted and most inseams are way too long for me. I tried the pants on and sure enough, the inseam was right where I needed it to be! The shirt was a very, very simple style as I'm still a little nervous to attempt sleeves. It was my first venture into interfacing but I don't think I did too badly. I hope the shirt fits properly...I haven't even tried it on!
I'm on the hunt for cute turquoise sandals....

Craft Room
It's nothing special at the moment. I haven't painted it or anything but I do have this lovely new table that is tall enough to do all fabric cutting and scrapbook projects while standing up. It has two end pieces that extend the table at least 12 inches.
As you can see, I also have a table for sewing and a couple of bookcases for scrapbook/sewing/crochet supplies.
So, what do you think? Should I paint the room? Just one wall? Right now the curtains are light blue with red pinstriping. Maybe a blue room with one red accent wall? I don't know, maybe I should just leave it alone and finish restaining the kitchen cabinets.

A New Start?
?
J and I talked about it and we've decided that we would like to continue to do foster care - but only for babies. Being that we had so many issues with the school (and that we have no plans on moving anytime soon), we're not ready for a school-aged child. Plus, babies don't lie.
So now my brain is working overtime. I've got baby vision. We had given the crib and excersaucer back to J's sister (she needed it for her baby) and had packed away all the baby clothes / blankets / bottles / toys. We've already found the crib and excersaucer we want to buy. I'm excited already.
I just need her to call me back. Then I think we need one class before our home will be open for placements again.
I hope we don't regret this.

Resolutions
So, what is my resolution? Well, I resolve to make 2007 my own year. So much of my 2006 was dependant on other's. It's odd how easy it became to take a back seat to my own life. Right now I feel like a defiant three year old - shouting to the world, "You can't tell me what to do!" I don't want to be angry, just more in control of what goes on in my world. It's up to me, so I will only have myself to blame.
What is your resolution?

Goodbye to my Son
After 2 years and 4 months, we have made the choice not to adopt our foster son. He was our first placement and this was the hardest decision of our lives.
He was 4 years old when he was placed with us. His previous foster-to-adopt home had said that he didn't bond to them. We thought they just said that to make it easier to move him. We thought that there must have been something about his behavior they didn't like.
He was our first placement....we had no experience with attachment issues, food issues or the highly charming manipulation. We were so naive.
We did attachment therapy (but I can see now we weren't dedicated enough). We policed his every move. We predicted his lies and behavior to his teachers but it fell on deaf ears.
Eventually we got him regular therapy. The teachers came around...we were all working together but it was still falling apart.
I hope, with all my heart, that the family he's with right now are dedicated to making it work with him. I hope they don't have to deal with the lying and manipulation. I hope they can do what we couldn't and that he feels loved and protected enough.
Goodbye T. I hope one day you'll understand that our decision was made with love and lots of hope for your future as well as our own. And I hope (as we've told each other many times) that no matter where you are, you'll always be my boy.

The Empress
You are The Empress
Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.
The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents,
beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home
decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.
The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.

Um, stuff
T's behavior hasn't gotten any better and at the moment I'm actively ignoring everything. I've made it clear to him that since he chooses not to listen to me or follow the rules then there I have nothing to say to him. Since most of what he says to me is a lie, I've also told him that I would prefer he not speak to me either.
Let me state here that there's no point in leaving comments saying I'm being mean. You haven't tried everything to get through to this child for over 2 years. I have and then is the point I've come to.
I guess it would make more sense to explain that T's lying has caused us quite the heartbreak. He's managed to convince someone at his school that he's being mistreated and they've called the CPS hotline on us numerous times. We've been investigated and have found to be innocent but it hurts to go through that and to know that your 6 year old soon-to-be-adoptive son would be so manipulative and cause that much pain. It makes us question whether we should go through with the adoption.
Other than that, it's been a mad scramble to get the girls evaluations and doctor's visits scheduled. My back is killing me and I just want a vacation.
I'm doing a craft show at an elementary school this weekend (with a friend) to hopefully sell the stuff I made over the summer. Wish me luck because I could use the money right about now.
